The Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Committee is composed of nine members: six district supervisors—each representing one of the state’s six geographical areas and appointed by the Governor—and three ex officio members: the directors of the State Cooperative Extension System and Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Supervisor of Vocational Agricultural Education. Gubernatorial appointees serve staggered three-year terms to ensure continuity, with two terms expiring each year. Appointments are made from regional nominations submitted through the State Committee.
