To practice in the field of soil science in the State of Alabama, you must be certified by the State Board of Registration for Professional Soil Classifiers. The Alabama Soil & Water Conservation Committee administers the application process.

 

Application Checklist:

  • Completed application (print and mail)
  • College transcript
  • Five references
  • Mapping examples
  • Application fee
Deadline to have application packet submitted to SWCC office is Friday, May 29, 2026. 

Notification Qualified applicants will be notified by a member of the Council by C.O.B. 6/5/26 with approval for examination or requesting additional information that may be required to meet application requirements.

Exam date for 2026: The expected date for examination will occur 3-4 weeks after the application deadline with exact date and location to be announced shortly after exam acceptance notifications.
